The majority of miscarriages can be diagnosed with a single ultrasound scan. However, a repeat scan may be required in some cases to confirm diagnosis. Several options for management of a miscarriage is offered including:
Conservative management - choosing to let the process happen naturally.
Medical management - using medication (vaginal tablets) to start the miscarriage process.
Surgical management - this is performed under general anaesthesia and is called evacuation of the tissue left inside the uterus.
